Private saunas in Tokyo are rented by time, not by entry. A 60-minute slot for one person starts around 2,000 yen at the budget end and runs past 30,000 yen for a private hot spring. This page explains what moves the price and what a fair rate looks like.

Four things move the price
- Length of the slot. 60, 90 and 120 minutes are the usual blocks, and they differ by facility. A low total can still be poor value if the slot is short — compare per hour, not per booking.
- Per room or per person. Some facilities charge for the room, some per head. For two people this can nearly double the total. Check the unit before booking.
- Time and day. Mornings and weekday afternoons are set cheaper. One Tokyo facility charges 8,000 yen on weekdays and 12,000 yen on weekends for the same slot — 4,000 yen from the day alone.
- Area. Central wards run close to double the outer ones for comparable rooms.
What a real range looks like
Roppongi and Azabu-Juban, confirmed July 2026. The spread here is more than tenfold, which is why “how much is a private sauna in Tokyo” has no single answer.

How to pay less
- Book a weekday morning or early afternoon. This is the largest single saving available.
- Take the longer slot if you are two or more. Per-hour rates usually improve with length.
- Confirm what is included — towels and sauna wear are bundled at some facilities and added at others.
