What we found
- The most common format is a private room with an infrared sauna and an ice bath, sold as a 45-minute session inside a mall or shop lot. Ten of the 18 venues are private-room venues.
- We could confirm a Finnish sauna at only two venues: The Contrast Garden and Subang Swim.
- Venues called “onsen” in Kuala Lumpur use man-made pools and are often bundled with massage. The natural hot springs are the two venues in Tambun, Ipoh.
- First-time trial prices are advertised prominently. sweatspa, for example, charges RM78 for a first visit and RM188 as its regular price.
